France come into this tournament as the defending champions, and with easily the deepest pool of talent from which to pick. Didier Deschamps looks set to stick with the 3-4-1-2 he used at the Euros last summer, even if injuries mean the players will change. The team’s recent results have been decidedly less than impressive with one win in six competitive matches, but at least Nations League relegation was avoided.

25 players new to the world cup will be playing this time. Marcus Rashford and Ben White are poised for England World Cup call-ups. Gareth Southgate, the England football team manager, is set to recall Marcus Rashford and is poised to replace the injured Reece James with the Arsenal defender Ben White when he names his 26-man England squad for the World Cup on Thursday.

Brazil manager Tite has been accused of showing a 'lack of respect for football' after his 'joke' call-up of Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli for the World Cup in Qatar.  Martinelli, 21, was playing in Brazil's fourth division during the 2018 World Cup in Russia but he has rocketed to superstardom in the Premier Leagueand now finds himself as part of Tite's 26-man squad.
